Charles Johnson 2001 Game Used/Worn #23 Florida Marlins Uncracked 34" and 34.7 oz Rawlings Big Stick Black Bat. The handle is taped in a criss-cross pattern. The knob is stamped with the model number "460B" and the date "039 01". Charles' number "23" is painted on the knob and the barrel end of the bat in white paint, and the size and weight of the bat are also painted on the knob "4.5-3". The bat has a silver painted stripe just proximal to the silver Rawlings logo. The barrel is stamped in silver with his name in blockletters, just above the team name. "Big Stick" is stamped in silver just above his name. The bat has a few rack marks and alot of ball marks, with a few small scuff marks on the knob. Charles was a 1st round draft pick in the 1992 MLB draft by the Marlins out of the University of Miami. He played 12 years in the major leagues from 1994-2005 with the Marlins, Dodgers, Orioles, White Sox, Rockies, and Devil Rays. He was a member of the 1997 World Series Champion Marlins, and he made the NL All Star team twice (1997 & 2001). He won 4 Gold Glove Awards from 1995-1998, and he caught 3 no-hitters by Al Leiter, Kevin Brown, and AJ Burnett. Only Jason Varitek has caught more no-hitters (4). During his career, only future HOFer Ivan Rodriguez had a better percentage of throwing out baserunners than his 39%. He played in 1188 major league games and retired with a lifetime .245 batting average. He amassed 940 hits, including 167 home runs and 570 RBI's.
